ABOUT THE TERRACE

The Terrace was created as a collaboration between three interconnected spaces along the Kilifi Creek - all initiated and developed through Afrofilms International broad networks and allies. These spaces are:

•The Terrace Art Space
•The Terrace Residency
•The Artists Exchange Project

Over the past 6 years, The Terrace has hosted 250+ performing artists including DJs, musicians, filmmakers, poets, muralists, chefs and designers. We centre Kenyan and African artists as we contribute to the growth of the creative cultural industry and community building.

Our aim is to decentralise art & resources from the global centres, turning Kilifi into a creative hub, where artists have a place to call home.

    The Terrace Art Space, popularly known as The Terrace Bar & Bistro, is a creative hub overlooking the majestic Kilifi creek - and a favoured performance, screening, exhibition and co-working space. We have the best sunset views, tropical cocktails and delicious meals.

    The Arts Residency

    We have a rolling application call for multi- disciplinary artists. All modes of artistic expression are supported. The length of residencies are project specific and range from one week to two months. We welcome artists who need dedicated time and space to create.

    The Artist's Exchange

    This is a livelihood community project aimed at creating alternative revenue streams for the fishing communities living along the Kilifi Creek. This features live music, DJ performances, fashion shows, visual art exhibits and mangrove restoration activities.
